Bio – Filthy Fluno

I was born and raised in the Boston area of the US and currently have my studio in northern Massachusetts. I graduated from Montserrat College of Art in 1999 with a BFA in Fine Arts and Education.

I constantly challenge myself to maintain the formal qualities of the charcoal and pastel mediums while imbedding my visual vocabulary to create a narrative. I’d describe my process as reactive, spontaneous, gestural, thoughtful, and sensual. I consider each drawing to be a recordi n g of the improvisational performance of my hands, mind, pastel, and charcoal on the paper. Everything around me (physically, emotionally, and intellectually) is incorporated into the performance of the drawing. It’s also important for me to tell stories and send a message to my audience.

My most recent body of work focuses on people, places, and events from the virtual reality community of Second Life. Each RL piece has its
inworld counterpart which makes it fun to blur the boundaries of what’s historically considered to be digital art, new media, and traditional. I consider the combination of both digital and paper versions make up the the one final piece.
